William Nicholson's wooden flute

Description:

This is the flute used by William Nicholson (1783 - 1849), the 'Bard of Galloway'.  It was manufactured in London by Proser (1777-1795).  Born in Borgue, Kirkcudbrightshire, he was a packman/ pedlar by trade.  The 'Brownie of Blednoch' is his best known work.

 

One key wood and ivory flute with brass key in four sections.  Each section bears the name stamp 'Proser'.
