The "Arched House", Ecclefechan

Description:
Thomas Carlyle was born in this house in 1795.  It was built by his father, James Carlyle, and his uncle, who were both stonemasons, in around 1791.  Thomas grew up to be a devoted son, frequently returning home to visit his parents.
