These medals were produced to commemorate the centenary of Robert Burns' death.  The poet is depicted on the obverse, and the Burns Mausoleum in St Michaels Churchyard in Dumfries is depicted on the reverse.

 

The centenary of Robert Burns death on 21 July 1896 saw national celebrations to mark his life and achievements.
