This book contains three volumes of the original works bound as one, the title page of each bears George Thomson's signature.
George Thomson was the editor of "A Select Collection of Original Scottish Airs". He was Clerk to the Board of Trustees for Encouragement of Art and Manufacture in Scotland yet his main interest in life was music. Burns made a major contribution to this work and spend the last years preparing and writing songs for Thomson. He provided over 100 songs, including, "My Luve Is Like A Red Red Rose" and "A Man's A Man For A' That".
