Ivy wood cup or vase, with portrait of Dr Grierson

Description:

Tall stemmed cup or vase featuring miniature portrait of Dr T B Grierson.  It was presented to Dr Grierson by Mr William Smith of Mauchline, Ayrshire.  There are two lines of greek underneath the portrait, and on the reverse four lines of verse:

 

"THE IVY / And still let man his fabrics rear / August in beauty, grace, and strength / Days pass - thou Ivy never sere! / And all is thine at length!"
