But be na' flay'd' - Quoth I, 'Guid faith,

Ye're may be come to stap my breath;

But tent me, billie;

I red ye weel, tak care o' skaith,

See, there's a gully!'

 

 

Robert Bryden produced a series of illustrations of scenes from Robert Burns' poems soon after his return to Ayrshire following his studies in London and travels in Spain and Italy. He also produced etchings of local sites with which the poet was connected.
