Pet Shop

The monkey in this painting is Nancy. She belonged to Wilson's Zoo in Glasgow which the artist used to visit. Nancy was one of the animals he often borrowed to take back to his studio and draw. There was a pet shop attached to the zoo which is presumably the setting in which Nancy is depicted here.
