Dumfries Seven Trades

Bowl

Period:
19th Century
Description:

This bowl was made to compliment the punchbowl (DUMFM:1934.1) given to the Seven Trades in 1806. The inscription reads "God keep the King and Craft, Seven Incorporations of Dumfries."

The property of the Seven Trades was auctioned on 8th April 1854 and became separated. Over the past 100 years these objects have been acquired by the museum. This bowl was purchased at auction in 1982. Another was purchased in 2004 and a further four similar bowls are in the museum collection.
