Goods Wagon Repairers

During the 19th and early 20th centuries the Railway Companies such as in this case, the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company employed thousands of men.  These men were based in Kilmarnock and repaired the Goods Wagons of which there were many as the rail networks were the arteries of Britain.  Any company wanting to move large quantities of goods had no other option other than by rail as canals were limited in number and route.
