Collecting boxes, Greyfriars Church, Dumfries, 1868

Description:

 

Churches have always received financial donations and congregations are encouraged to donate at weekly services.  The money collected is used for the upkeep of the church building and the provision of ministers.  It is also used for charitable purposes either in the local community or as mission work overseas.
