These lead works are from the Blue Bell Inn, which was situated in the area where the Loreburn Centre is today on Dumfries High Street. On his return to England in 1745, Prince Charles Edward Stewart stayed at the Blue Bell Inn, making his headquarters nearby in Richard Lowthian's house.
