Elementary Certificate for Pittman's Shorthand

Elementary or 3rd Class certificate for Pitman's shorthand presented to John Fulton, a founding member of Crosshouse Burns Club.   Pitman shorthand was a shorthand system developed by Sir Isaac Pitman and was first presented in 1837. It has now been adapted into 15 languages, and was once the most popular form of shorthand used in the UK. Today, the ubiquity of shorthand has diminished with improvements in technology, however, it is still commonly used by journalists to take notes, especially when recording equipment is not permitted or available.
