Seal matrix of the Commissary Clerk of Dumfries

Description:
A seal matrix was used to stamp a distinguishing mark onto molten wax as a means of representing identity, authority and status. This seal would have been used by the Commissary Court on documents dealing with matters of marriage and inheritence.
