Plaque showing the former arms of the Burgh of Newmilns

This plaque bears the old coat-of-arms of the East Ayrshire town of Newmilns in the Irvine Valley.  It shows two gold ornaments, one a spool of yarn and the other a weaver's shuttle which point to the towns important contribution to the textile industry, as does the motto, "Weave Truth with Trust.   The plaque was produced to commemorate the towns quincentenary 1490-1990 and was presented to the Marquess of Bute.
