Liquid measures from Wigtown

Two liquid measures issued to Wigtown Burgh in 1707.  These are Union quart and pint measures.   Following the Act of Union in 1707 there was an attempt to rationalise Scotland's system of weights and measures and all burghs were ordered to follow the English system.  The weights and measures acquired in 1707 by Wigtown are one of the most complete sets surviving in Scotland.
