Hand press for glove making

This mould was used as part of the process of making gloves.  The finished glove was pressed using a brass hand-shaped mould which was injected with steam.    This large press was used at Robertson's Mill, Dumfries.  It was found in a Dumfries scrapyard along with 149 others of varying sizes, this being the largest - following the closure of the factory.
