Sample "Kinetic" Air Relief Valve

This valve is cut-away to show the flat - a vulcanite rubber-covered sphere of lightwight wood.   The valve is termed "kinetic" because of a novel design feature, which prevents the valve being blown shut prematurely by discharging air, or even a mixture of air and water spray, however high its speed. The valve is closed only by solid, rising water. The design and dimensions of the float-rest are critical to this feature.
