Arrol Johnston receipt cards

Orange receipts for car parts, pink receipt from the aircraft section.   These receipt cards were used at Arrol Johnston during the First World War. During this time car production at the Heathhall factory ceased and Arrol Johnston joined forces with the Galloway Engineering Company at Tongland, near Kirkcudbright, to manufacture aero engines. The factory produced 120 h.p. and 160 h.p. Beardmore and 230 h.p. aero engines. 1500 men were employed and their wages bill was £9,000 a week.
