Sir Hector A. MacDonald

Sir Hector Archibald Macdonald was a British solider in the late 19th century. He was born 4th March 1853. On 11 June 1870 he joined the 92nd Gordon Highlanders. Eventually he would rise to be sergeant by December 1873. He fought in the Second Afghan War (1878-1880), First Boer War (1881), Sudan (1896-1897), Omdurman (1st September 1898), Boer War (1899-1902) and Ceylon (1902). He was named Commander in Chief of British Forces in Ceylon. Hector shot himself on 25th of March 1903 with a pistol. During his years fighting with the Gordon Highlanders he won the Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath and Distinguished Service Order.
