Medieval war sword
European war sword, dating from the High Middle Ages. The war
sword features a simple cruciform hilt and a faceted
mushroom-shaped pommel. This war sword is a double-edged, single
handed weapon. In the late Middle Ages, these kind of blades were
superseded by the two-handed arming sword, that could deliver more
powerful blows and wreak more damage on the battlefield.
