Basket-hilt sword

Description:
This beautiful basket-hilteded sword belonged to the bodyguard of the Dodge of Venice in the 16th century. The welded Scottish basket that we know from the 17th and 18th centuries developed eventually from this type of hilt. The blade is inscribed "One God, One Law, One King".
