Description:

This pocket book of Burns' songs has mauchline ware front and back covers.  On the front there is a black transfer print of Hamilton Palace, and on the reverse a print of wild cattle at Hamilton Park.  The book includes songs, sonnets and epigrams.

 

W & A Smith of Mauchline, Ayrshire developed the manufacture of transfer printed treen, or wooden ware which became highly popular as gifts and souvenirs. Later, they used photographs instead of transfers.
