J P Milne's stereoscopic viewer

Description:

The magazine stereoscope used in J P Milne's Stranraer studio.  It was manufactured by W I Chadwick, Manchester.

 

The cabinet contains a drum or magazine of wire holders for glass stereoscope slides.  The drum is fixed to a chain drive.  As the handle is turned each slide is brought upright in front of the viewing lens.  Hinged mirrors reflect light into the cabinet and illuminate the slides.
