Woods in Autumn

Thomas Corsan Morton was born in Glasgow and went on to study at the School of Art there. He is regarded as a member of the Glasgow School and painted at Cockburnspath alongside Guthrie, Crawhall, Henry and others in 1884 and '85. However, he cannot be said to have been amongst the leading innovators of this group, his work remaining quite conservative throughout his career. This large canvas is thought to be one of his later paintings.
