Barskimming near Ayr

The Barskimming Estate straddles a gorge south of Mauchline. The Old House is found on the right of the gorge and is reached by crossing the bridge which was built in 1788. The house itself was built in 1883 to replace an older building of 1771 which had been destroyed by fire the previous year.   The artist is D.O.Hill, the Engraver is W.Richardson and it was published by Blackie & Son, Glasgow.
