The Lochryan Regatta

Description:

A lithograph by R Kelly and printed by MacLure and Macdonald of Glagow.

 

It shows the regatta on Lochryan.  The view looks north up the loch from Stranraer and includes a number of  yachts, rowing boats and a tall-masted vessel.

 

Regattas were popular on Lochryan during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

 

The bottom of the print reads: LOCHRYAN REGATTA AUGUST 1842 - PRINTED EXCLUSIVELY FOR AND PRESENTED TO READERS OF THE GALLOWAY REGISTER
