Stranraer Museum

Description:: The collection relates to the former county of Wigtownshire and is particularly strong in local prehistoric and early medieval archaeology, farming, social history and costume. There are smaller geological and fine art collections plus an important historic archive collection relating to the former burghs of Stranraer, Whithorn, Wigtown and Newton Stewart. The museum, which is part of the Dumfries and Galloway Museums Service, also operates the Castle of St John, Stranraer and a small display area in the County Buildings, Wigtown.
Opening Hours:: Open all year Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm & 1.30pm to 4.30pm. (closed Christmas and New Year bank holidays)
